Welcome to this week’s edition to the professional shop's newsletter. This weekend we have had the annual Yuletide event, Santa has been seen on the golf course and snow has been the main talk this week so far.

Course news

Course update

With the snow over the weekend and on Monday, the course will remain closed until further notice. With over eight inches of snow fall landing on the course this will take a while to melt. The greenkeepers, golf club and the professionals will endeavour to keep you updated on the golf course conditions.

Shop news

Shop still open...

The golf course maybe closed, but the professional shop is still open. We will be open for shortened hours from 9:00am - 2:00pm whilst the course is still under snow. If you need any last minute Christmas presents, lessons, custom fittings or just for a chat, we will be here to help.

Competition news

Yuletide Results

First placed team - Mike Rolls, Joe Arnold, Nick Davis and Brian Jenkins. 
Second placed team - John Abbott, Andres Sheritis, Duncan Quigley and Tony Manzi.
Third placed team - Ian Lawrence, Gary Dineen, J. Glanville and Stuart Lawrence.

Well done to all competitors who braved the freezing and concrete conditions. Although this didn’t stop all teams shooting great scores!


Fourball Betterball Competition - Saturday, 23 December 

On Saturday, 23 December we will be organising a fourball betterball event. If you would like to play in the competition, please contact Callum Austin in the office, with your pair and he will add you into the competition. After the event the professionals will announce the winners of the Christmas Draw in the clubhouse.

On Saturday during the yuletide event we had a special guest on the golf course. Santa none-the-less came and played in the event. However, we have since found out it he was an imposter! If you can guess who this member which dressed up like Santa, you will win a FREE PING bobble hat.

How many do you carry?

Some people like to load the top end of their bag with a driving iron or a couple of hybrids, whereas we know others prefer to give themselves more options at the bottom end, carrying several wedges to cover different yardages and shot types. Which one are you?

As the chart above helps highlight, when you break down the number of shots you hit with various clubs during a round, it’s clear to see why your wedges are so important. Giving yourself more options in this area will ensure that you’re covered for every scenario and distance.
